May 01, 2019

As proclaimed by Governor Roy Cooper, April 22-26 is "Reentry Week" in North Carolina. The designated week, spearheaded by the NC Department of Commerce, is designed to "ensure job seekers with criminal records are provided the resources they need to overcome the barriers to employment they face due to their record."

In the Centralina WDB region, Probation & Parole officers in Anson and Cabarrus counties attended the “Re- Employment Services for Job Seekers with Criminal Backgrounds” program at the NCWorks Career Center in Wadesboro and Concord on April 23 and 24, respectively.

NCWorks Career Center Leaders Monica Gramling (Anson) and Denisha Torrence-Nesbit (Cabarrus) hosted the events and welcomed Janie R. Rollins, Region III Former Offender Specialist with the NC Department of Commerce - Division of Workforce Solutions as she introduced the initiative to attendees.

Rollins, who is based at the NCWorks Career Center-Rowan in Salisbury, said the purpose of the events was, “to connect with the Probation Teams and inform them about resources offered through NCWorks for the population they serve.”
