David Hollars is Featured Presenter at National Governors Association Conference in Washington,DC

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices hosted a national meeting on Tuesday January 14 and Wednesday January 15 in Washington,DC titled Learning from Each Other: The Roles of States in Transforming their Health Systems. The meeting provided a unique opportunity for governors" senior staff and leaders from state and local agencies to connect with the architects of successful state-led transformation efforts. With a focus on elucidating the "how" of health systems transformation,sessions provided interactive dialogues and concrete examples of the policy options,levers and leadership strategies that states have successfully used to improve health outcomes and reduce costs.
Centralina Workforce Development Executive Director David Hollars was requested by the NC Department of Commerce to represent North Carolina at this national conference. David"s presentation was part of a breakout session titled The Economic Opportunity of Revamping Your Health Care Workforce. The session was moderated by Sue Skillman,Deputy Director,Center for Health Workforce Studies,University of Washington and also featured Eleni Papadakis,Executive Director,Washington State Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board and Frank Woodbeck,Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation,State of Nevada. David spoke on the sector skills grants provided by the NC Department of Commerce to further allied health workforce development and how the local Competitive Workforce Alliance Allied Health Regional Skills Partnership has been successful in achieving this goal in the Charlotte USA region. David also participated in a round table discussion on the topic of revamping your healthcare workforce after the session.
The conference featured a luncheon question and answer session with Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe who offered a governor"s perspective on state health transformation. Overall,the conference offered the more than 250 attendees the opportunity to participate in robust discussion on how states are moving towards a higher value health system that produces better outcomes for employers and for healthcare workers.
