Community Partnership in Iredell County Helps NextGen Youth Follow Desired Career Path

Dec 19, 2019

When Centralina WDB NextGen participant Angela Vela walked into the NCWorks Career Center in Mooresville, she had her sights set on two occupations - EMT and Nursing.

The Career Center staff did some research and eventually placed her with Susan at Accordius Health to discuss both jobs. Angela did a job shadowing at Accordius and got to talk to multiple staff members at the center. Angela decided Nursing offered more stability long term.

Nursing courses start in January at Mitchell Community College but in the meanwhile, Angela has participated in LEGACY program offered through Centralina WDB NextGen services at the Career Center in Mooresville.

“Find a way to serve customers and use all resources to make sure the customer is satisfied,” said Aaron Neely, NextGen Career Development Specialist at the NCWorks Career Center-Mooresville.
