Centralina WDB Awards Local Company with Grant to Improve their Workforce!

Wm. T. Burnett & Co. in Statesville has been awarded an Incumbent Workforce Development Program training grant by the Centralina Workforce Development Board.
The $16,282 grant,funded through the N.C. Department of Commerce will allow the company to provide training for 58 of its 146 manufacturing employees.
The company has operated in Statesville for over 55 years,providing a range of technical foam and nonwoven products for the automotive industry.
They will contract with Mitchell Community College to provide training components in Leadership Development,Team Building,Supervisor Training and Computer Training. The outcome of the training is to build a more stable workforce and place the textile company in a more competitive position.
Wm. T. Burnett joins 100 other companies that have been awarded Incumbent Workforce Development Program training grants by the Centralina Workforce Development Board. A total of $2.6 million in Incumbent Worker funding has been approved,thus providing real economic investment in existing businesses and the workforce for our region. The Board has also trained over 4,800 people!
