Centralina NextGen Youth in Lincoln County Earns Diploma and Begins to Build Future

Jun 29, 2020

When Shelby Clark enrolled in Centralina WDB NextGen services last November, she was a student in Gaston College's High School Equivalency (HSE) class. Shelby made steady progress on her class requirements and earned her HSE diploma on February 14, 2020.

Determined to succeed, she immediately enrolled in Gaston College's Nurse Aid 1 training. Her class started on June 1, 2020, and is scheduled to complete on July 30, 2020. Shelby has already taken steps to find employment at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center after she completes her training, as either a regular employee or through a NextGen work experience opportunity.

“Shelby has shown great determination to complete her HSE certificate and enroll in the NA 1 training class. This determination shows a great example of using the NextGen IEP to guide customers to their goals,” said Blaine Claiborne, NCWorks Centralina Career Development Specialist in Lincoln County.
