Centralina NEXGEN Customer Was the Hot Topic at Centralina Council of Government's Board of Delegates Meeting

On Wednesday,May 10,2017,Khaleel Mangum,Centralina NEXGEN Customer from I-CARE,Inc. ,opened the Centralina Council of Government"s Board of Delegates Meeting sharing his journey using the Centralina Workforce Development Board"s NEXGEN Services. "

Mangum established goals to learn hard and soft skills for employment to enter a trade occupation. "Centralina NEXGEN funds were used to help Mangum acquire a NC Driver"s Licences to satisfy pre-employment terms to enroll in work-based learning and work experience at J.P."s Plumbing and Heating,Inc. "Through work experience,he was able to learn hard skills and perform routine tasks to include repairing and replacing fixtures,pipes,mounting brackets,and various assembly roles as a Plumber Helper. "

Mangum exceeded all expectations and earned full-time employment with J.P."s Plumbing and Heating,Inc. in March 2017. "He"s paid $10.00 an hour as a Plumber Helper. "Mangum continues to perform at a high level and enjoys his job. "Jacob Deal,President of J.P."s Plumbing and Heating Inc. plans to enroll Khaleel in the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractor (PHCC) of NC Plumbing and HVAC Apprenticship Program to gain state licenses and credentials. "WIOA funds will be used to assist with enrollment. "
