Carvana Hires Over 300 Employees for New Facility in Concord Thanks to NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus

Feb 21, 2020

During the months of January and February, hundreds of jobseekers visited the NCWorks Career Center in Concord to apply for positions at the brand new Carvana Inspection Center in Concord, set to open in late February.

In the last few weeks, Carvana hosted two three-day long, twelve hour a day hiring events at the NCWorks Career Center in Concord. The company was hiring for entry-level associates, automotive technicians and auto body/paint professionals. NCWorks Career Center staff assisted Carvana staff in the screening and application process for 525 applicants. In the end, Carvana made job offers to 307 area job seekers.

Last summer, Carvana announced that Concord would be the site for their newest inspection center located at the former Philip Morris campus, bringing hundreds of jobs and over $30 million in investment to Cabarrus County, according to the Cabarrus EDC.

NCWorks Career Center Leader Denisha Torrence-Nesbit attended the announcement and connected with Carvana to set up hiring events before the expected opening date.

Denisha observed that the hiring events brought in individuals that normally wouldn’t visit the NCWorks Career Center. She also credits partnerships with local organizations like Goodwill and Vocational Rehabilitation for helping to get the word out about the hiring events.

NCWorks has been a dream to work with, they’ve been very generous with their space and facilities. They’ve helped to facilitate a lot of great people to come in through the doors, were very grateful for that,” said Pedro Claudio, General Manager of the new Carvana Inspection Center in Concord.

Pedro added that the first day of the hiring event had the best turn out in the company’s history. He went on to say that the hiring through NCWorks in Concord was the better than any other in the entire country and that many of the best practices learned from working with NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus will become company policies.

Carvana will soon be hiring for nightshift associates and hosting additional hiring events at the NCWorks Career Center in Concord this spring.
