Sep 01, 2016

Virtual health demoOn Wednesday,August 24,2016,the Competitive Workforce Alliance held its Allied Health Regional Skills Partnership quarterly meeting at the Charlotte Area Health Education Center (AHEC). "Allied Health RSP member Joann Spaleta was the host for the meeting and provided the introduction of the topic to the 60 members and guest in attendance."

This was the highest meeting attendance in three years." Many came to hear the hot topic of the day, regarding virtual patient care." We live in an age where doctors no longer cross the doorstep,he or she comes to the patient through the computer." It"s virtual medicine and it is really changing healthcare, from how doctors meet with patients to the experiences patients have during different types of therapy.

Scientists have been experimenting with ways to use virtual reality in medicine for decades, but in the last 10 years the use of virtual medicine has exploded." With this in mind,Colleen Hole,Vice President of the Adult Acute Division in the Carolina HealthCare System (CHS)Medical Group Division and Guy Glorioso who serves as the Director of System Care Coordination, and is responsible for clinical program development of virtual care services at CHS talked about how virtual care effects training when it comes to medical personnel." They also talked about how this new movement will affect jobs in the Allied Health field." At the end of their presentation they showed an example of how the world of virtual medicine works by live feeding from a sample patient room at the hospital.
