The Centralina Workforce Development Team Takes Home an NCWorks Partnership Conference Win

On Wednesday,October 11 through Friday,October 13,2017,the Centralina WDB staff and Centralina Workforce Services staff attended the 2017 NCWorks Partnership Conference in Greensboro,N.C." This year the state celebrated 30 years of the annual event."
Many successful things happened at this year’s conference." David Hollars,Centralina WDB Executive Director,presented two workshops during the conference." One of the topics was titled "Big Picture Thinking (and Doing) for Workforce Development"." In this session,Hollars took the audience on a journey allowing them to think big picture in workforce development and how a region can make it work leveraging partnerships,listening to customers,and using technology to deliver results." Ken McCoy,Project Director of Centralina Workforce Services assisted Hollars by demonstrating the successful current technology tools used in the Centralina WDB region.
Hollars led another session titled,"Welcome to the 21st Century Workforce Development Professionals"." In this session,he provided guidance and information on how board members and staff can develop a different approach to their work." The session was interactive providing the audience with the knowledge and tools to be more successful workforce development leaders."
On Thursday evening,the NCWorks Partnership Conference held the annual awards banquet and Marvin Lear,an NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus customer and North Carolina Manufacturing Institute graduate,received the 2017 NCWorks Governor Award in the Adult category.
