Keyana White, a former participant of Centralina WDB funded Work Experience (WEX) and On the Job Training (OJT) services provided by the NCWorks Career Center-Mooresville, was recently offered a full-time position with the Town of Mooresville. "Keyana is off the charts!" says Violet Carter, HR Manager at the Town of Mooresville, "NCWorks identified the right fit for our needs," added Carter. Through work experience and OJT services, Keyana was involved in many projects including review of a pay study, updating of pay grades, website updates, updating vacancies, and the HRIS system. She was very detail-oriented and put in very intensive work.

Kenya's involvement in that position included recruitment fairs and communication with job seekers. She showed a very high standard of professionalism, and she has the ability to connect well with all job seekers. Keyana is always ready and prepared to go the extra mile. The HR Manager and the HR Director love her eye for detail and her accuracy and appreciate her assistance.

The professionalism displayed by Kenya and her ability to adapt to the tasks assigned convinced the Town of Mooresville to offer her a part-time position that was created to keep her. The employer did not have the budget for a real position at that point and appreciated the option of starting her as a Work Experience participant. However, that all changed on Friday, June 30, 2023, when Keyana stopped by the NCWorks Career Center in Mooresville to share that she had just signed the offer for a full-time position as an HR Generalist with the Town of Mooresville. "This is so cool! We turned this into a new "Ring the Bell" celebration, says Jens Schmidt, NCWorks Career Center-Mooresville Center Leader. Ring the Bell is what happens at the NCWorks Career Center whenever an individual assisted by NCWorks obtains employment.

The Centralina Workforce Development Board is proud of how the NCWorks Career Center Mooresville team, led by Jens Schmidt, strives to connect talent with jobs. Business Services is a key component in the offerings available at every Centralina NCWorks Career Center. Building relationships with employers is vital to what we do. NCWorks business services professionals develop transformational relationships with employers, not transactional ones. The payoff is in connecting talent with jobs.
