Apr 23, 2020

The NCWorks Career Center-Anson in Wadesboro has a new Center Leader - Anson County native Freda Buchanan.

After Freda graduated from Anson Senior High School, she got busy building a career in customer service. She worked for a local furniture company, newspaper advertisement, office administrator at a tire company, and a local insurance office before coming to NCWorks Centralina in April 2015 as a Talent Development Coordinator.

Last month, the hometown girl accepted the position as Center Leader for the NCWorks Career Center-Anson. “I’ve been here all my life, I know the people,” said Freda, “Just knowing the challenges of this particular area is one of the things that I bring to the table and that will be an asset to what I do here.”

Once everything returns to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic, Freda says her vision is to meet with community and industry leaders to learn their needs and discover what NCWorks Centralina can do for them. Also, in return connecting the jobseekers with the right companies and stopping cycle of the revolving door that some customers are trapped in.

“I want to bridge that gap with the clients that we have coming in and get them to the place where they can find employment and stay there,” added Freda.

A wife and mother, Freda says she really enjoys baking, loves dogs and is a two-year breast cancer survivor. She has earned several certificates from South Piedmont Community College, including notary and business/office administration.
