Leaders from the Southwest Prosperity Zone, which includes the 8 NCWorks Career Centers from the Centralina WDB Region, regularly meet as a team to discuss upcoming changes and new initiatives coming to their area.
During the December meeting, leaders brought gifts for each other, but there was a twist, participants brought gifts based on what they thought their chosen person would like when they were children. After opening gifts, the group then donated the toys to a local charity or organization in one of the represented counties.
This year, Lincoln County was chosen to receive the toys, and they were later donated to the United Way of Lincoln County.
"You have blessed many children this Christmas season, thank you,” said Kathy Vinzant, Executive Director of the United Way of Lincoln County.
“We as NCWorks Career Center Leaders work in our counties to provide needed services to the unemployed and under employed, but we also enjoy it when we get the opportunity to touch the lives of children during the holiday season,” added Tony Simpson, NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln Leader and a member of the Centralina Workforce Development Board
