NCWorks Centralina Serves with Nearly a Dozen Non-Profits for its Fourth Annual Centralina Day of Giving

As a continuous effort serve the community, on the afternoon of November 22, 2019 the NCWorks Centralina Career Centers held the Fourth Annual Centralina Day of Giving.
Each of our 8 Career Centers, chose one or two non-profit organizations in their respective counties and spent the afternoon volunteering their time to assist and partner with those local organizations.
The NCWorks Career Center-Anson, visited Feed my Lambs in Wadesboro as the organization aided the needy and homeless in the community by providing clothing and food.
Staff with the NCWorks Career Center-Stanly helped two organizations that day, after weeks of collecting food donations for Christian Ministry in Albemarle the food was deliver on the Day of Giving. Shortly after, staff assisted in setting up for a Holiday event in downtown Albemarle.
Up at the NCWorks Career Center-Statesville, staff stocked the food pantry shelves with food items that they have collected, as well as decorated and cleaned up the Yokefellow Thrift Store in Statesville.
That day, the NCWorks Career Center-Rowan staff were busy packing bags of food that would be loaded onto pallets and distributed to the Rowan Helping Ministries food pantries in Salisbury. The bags of food will be used to feed families that Rowan Helping Ministry services within the community.
The NCWorks Career Center-Union staff partnered with Turning Point, Incorporated and meet up at Second Chance Boutique in Monroe to help sort, price, and place donated items on the sales floor as well as other tasks in order to assist the agency that relies on sales from the boutique in addition to monetary donations in order to keep its doors open which allows them to continue serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
Over at the NCWorks Career Center-Mooresville, staff helped at the Mooresville Christian Mission – packing boxes and any other tasks the organization needed, the boxes will go to families that are in need during the holiday season.
In partnership with the City of Concord Housing Authority and the Senior Resource Connection, the NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus fed the residents 55 and older. Afterwards, staff decorated the yards of some of the residents for Christmas.
The NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln staff visited Communities in Schools in Lincolnton, and stocked shelves with school supplies, also assisted with outside work around the building.
“The Centralina Day of Giving allows us, as a team to aid those in our communities who are facing barriers and allows us the opportunity to assist them outside of our four walls. We leave this experience each year amazed at the dedication and commitment of those who serve these customers daily,” said Kim Carpenter, the Centralina Interim Project Director, “It makes us even more determined to provide customers with excellent workforce assistance in hopes of impacting their lives to ensure that they can become self-sufficient and enjoy all of the good things in life.”
