German auto parts maker picks Charlotte developer for its $24M Mooresville project

A German auto parts manufacturer planning its first U.S. plant in Mooresville has picked a Charlotte developer for the project.

Tristone Flowtech USA Inc. has a deal with SunCap Property Group for a building constructed to Tristone’s specifications,says Flint McNaughton,SunCap CEO and founding partner.

He predicts that other deals to bring more auto-related projects to the Carolinas.

"The automotive sector is a key economic driver in the Carolinas and we believe both OEMs and suppliers will continue to view this region as an ideal location for these types of long term investments," McNaughton says. SunCap,based in Charlotte,recently delivered a 230,000-square-foot manufacturing plant to auto parts supplier Magna Seating in Spartanburg,S.C.

The Tristone building in Mooresville is huge too,measuring 215,000 square feet.

The project was"announced just before Christmas as a $23.6 million deal that would bring 302 jobs to Iredell County."The plant will make engine hose systems,air-charge hoses and battery-cooling systems to automakers in the United States and Canada.

Yeargin Potter Smith Construction of Greenville,S.C.,will serve as general contractor for the Tristone facility. Parker Poe handled the legal stuff.

Tristone,based in Germany,also has a new plant in Delicias,Mexico.
