The Centralina Workforce Development Board has hired Tyana Johnson as it's Communications Coordinator effective Monday, July 16, 2018.

Raised in Palm Bay, Fla., Johnson developed an interest in journalism in high school.

In 2007, her family moved to Charlotte, N.C. - where she later attended Western Carolina University and earned a bachelor degree in Communication. In college she was active in a television club and a radio station.

After college she worked for two radio stations in Charlotte, The NASCAR Foundation and most recently served as the editor and reporter of the Mandan News and The Bismarck Tribune in Bismarck, North Dakota.

"My time in North Dakota has taught me look outside of box and find new ways to connect with people. Everyone has a story to tell - a journey that others can relate to," said Johnson.

In her downtime she loves to cook, bake, swim, read, shop and spend time with family and friends.

"I truly have a passion for the people in my community and I am excited to meet all of the hardworking people of CCOG," added Johnson.

She is looking forward to serving the people of North Carolina.
