Centralina WDB Launches Centralina Career Headlight 2.0

On Monday,June 13,2016,an excited,invitation-only group gathered at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond"s Charlotte facility for a special community event." An event was held to emphasize the importance of helping young people making decisions about their future at an early stage in their life." As this was the overarching theme,the Centralina Workforce Development Board,the Centralina Foundation,Centralina Council of Governments,and other partners announced the launch of Centralina Career Headlight 2.0 version."

Centralina Career Headlight 2.0,is a web-based tool that helps people find high-growth careers and related training and education programs based on their interests and goals determined after taking a short assessment upon arrival on the site." Centralina Career Headlight (www.centralinacareerheadlight.com) has been on the market for about two years,however,based on feedback from users,the Centralina WDB decided to launch a newer version that would include new features and a new look and feel."

To kick things off,Ray Owens,Richmond Federal Reserve Senior Economist talked about the economic value of using a data-driven approach to close the skills gap." Victor Galloway,FDIC Community Affairs Specialist,talked about student debt and its effects within the last decade."

David Hollars,Centralina WDB Executive Director and Michael Johnson,Chairman of the Centralina Council of Governments both talked about the innovative tool and how it links individuals with skills and in demand occupations and educational resources in the region." Chris Eagle,representative from Headlight Data,took the audience on a virtual tour of the newest version of Centralina Career Headlight."

Asia Wilson,Communications Specialist for the Centralina Workforce Development Board also showed a four-minute testimonial video highlighting users experience with the tool." Dr. Tony Zeiss,President of Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) was featured in the video." Dawn Braswell,Human Resource Manager for Siemens Energy Inc. was also featured along with a NEXGEN young adult and youth contractor.""
